As usual, the first special train left Brussels for Strasbourg at around 9am on Monday morning. Among the passengers - mostly MEPs - the atmosphere was a little more lively than usual. Between the risk of escalation in the Middle East and the outcome of the Polish vote, there was no shortage of topics to discuss.
Once past the only intermediate stop (Paris CDG), MEPs, assistants and officials were interrupted by the conductor's announcement in Dutch, French and English informing them that the train had mistakenly taken the wrong track and that they had to turn back. In general astonishment they all realised that they had arrived at the Disneyland Paris station.
So it seems that the political confusion reigning in Brussels has ended up infecting the neighbouring railway lines as well. The initial humour soon gave way to the realisation that even organised trips cannot be trusted.
