Better late than never: after all the regulatory efforts to kill the European industry, a restricted group of senior MEPs and officials coordinated by the President propose reforming Parliament’s committees to avoid unnecessary duplications and facilitate the attribution of competences. Someone also realized that defense is essential these days, so it is better to turn the security and defense subcommittee into a committee. The group of wise men also discovered that MEPs need more than a few minutes while taking the floor in Parliament if Parliament claims to resemble a real Parliament. Finally, someone is also realizing that the house should not take for granted all the Commission’s proposals and challenge them. All that is missing is the right of legislative initiative, and then Parliament could resemble a real Parliament. But slow and steady wins the race.
